Supportive Counseling

Lifeline offers Supportive Counseling which is another kind of counseling procedure that comprises of, set of tasks that are helpful in offering assistance to the patients who are encountered by any sorts of illnesses that maybe Chronic in nature. Core counseling focuses on the Illness itself and offers different tactics and help to defeat the unmanageable problems and inadequacies originated due to the illness. Besides facilitating the basic Illness, Supportive Counseling is utilized along with core counseling to deal with obstacles and hassles that could create barrier in the treatment of the dominant illness or may ultimately open doors to relapse.

At Lifeline when beginning the treatment, supportive counseling is given to the patient so that they can have a clear vision that what the disease is. In order to start the treatment in the right line of attack it is of great importance that the patient is able to understand what he/she has. After knowing about the basics of their illness it is quite possible for the client to go in to the state of denial and end up grieving. At that moment supportive counseling liberates by helping the patient recover from grief and provides denial management.

Lifeline also provides Programs like 12 steps . 12 steps are the heart and soul of AA fellowship (Alcoholics Anonymous) due to its content that sketches the course. These twelve steps are actually the core beliefs which are spiritual in nature. When one accepts these core beliefs new behaviors and practices originate from them; they outturn calming down the obsessions related to drinking and drugging in such a way that it results in a content and constructive life.

Addiction and alcoholism are ailments illustrated by the out of control use and cravings of drugs; to that magnitude that it makes people’s life dysfunctional.  There are two main reasons why addicts frequently use drugs; stress and boredom. Lifeline makes sure that during recovery the addict learns required skills to keep away from relapse and for that purpose supportive counseling programs like stress management and anger management are very effective. The rate of relapse reduces to a great extent when patients gain knowledge of the needed skills, to be in charge of their anger and rise above their stress. In other illnesses as well, stress is detrimental like psychological disorders. Lifeline considers these skills as an essential tool for patients suffering from addiction and is helpful in treating psychiatric disorders as well.

An addict might come across many such situations in life where he or she is unable to tackle his or her compulsions and urges. At Lifeline we believe that not only Core Counseling is useful in such circumstances even Situational Counseling can be found helpful but the most effective and result producing would be Supportive Counseling which includes Assertiveness Training, educating the addicts how they can refuse their friends and colleagues who offer them mood-altering substances.

At Lifeline the treatment process not only includes these but intervention is also a form of treatment  in which we help the addict alter the corrupt thoughts, feelings and behaviors and replace it with the productive one’s and this is done by  intervening into the life of the addict; by  making them listen and accept help.  Codependency is a disease of relationship in which the person emotionally involved with the addict also suffers psychologically, emotionally and even physically during the treatment process.  For that reason, we believe just like any other chronic disease this problem also requires healing and recovery.

During the lifespan human beings go through a number of constructive and unconstructive emotions. One of these emotions is Shame. Though the issue in hand is that it may be confused with guilt. At Lifeline we teach Shame healing which includes teaching the patient how to face shame, experience, integrate and substitute it with mature guilt. Crucial conversations originate from such circumstances where two people have different opinions, the stakes are high, emotions are building up and the quality of life is dependent upon the outcome. In order to work out things, it is necessary to learn how to handle dialogue and make people accountable for it. Standing firm and holding fast is acknowledged as being Tough love. Setting limits and expectations even if it is causing your loved ones uneasiness is the most loving thing that can be done.

At Lifeline Emotional regulation , is an important tool in which the client is taught to regulate their emotions and as well as others.  Emotions are regulated, controlled and then implemented for different tasks. Their self-esteem depicts an individual’s subjective emotional assessment of their self worth.

Managing Anger and Disappointment can be a concern for many people it can be because they are deficient or have delayed crucial executive skills which can include remaining focused, emotions, organizing and controlling impulses. With the Smart but Scattered program here at Lifeline, we teach easy steps that require a person to identify their strengths and weaknesses, utilizing methods that are verified and trusted to enhance and advance specific skills and solving everyday problems.
